Reading Buses move to cloud solution to support growth

July 24 – Reading Buses has enhanced operational scalability by upgrading to Velociti’s cloud-based solution to support growth plans.

The operator utilises our Depot Performance System (DPS) to manage the commercial, financial, and operational performance of the business.

The move provides capability to scale the service for future the business expansion. In recent years the operator has seen significant growth across Berkshire with the addition of two sister bus companies, Newbury & District and Thames Valley Buses.

Bus usage is very high in the borough, with 17.5 million passenger journeys made in 2022/2023 and the number is expected to rise 20 million by March 2024. Reading also has the second highest level of bus patronage per head of population in England, outside of London.

Laurence Jenkins Director Reading Buses

Laurence Jenkins, Finance Director at Reading Buses, said: “We wanted to have a scalable solution which will meet our growth plans, as well as increase operational efficiency. With the solutions accessed via the cloud our teams can easily collaborate on tasks securely which will save valuable time.”

Nick Brookes, software director at Velociti Solutions, said: “We are delighted to build on our partnership with Reading Buses and provide a cloud-based solution that will deliver value and support a wide range of improvements to work processes and reduce costs.”
